Dr Terry Parlett, Head of Intellectual Property & Commercial Research at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital leads a discussion on the different ways of protecting an idea, invention or process using examples of innovation from Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Terry Parlett is responsible for managing and commercialising the hospital's intellectual property (IP) portfolio through licensing and spin-outs, developing commercial research collaborations and partnerships, as well as technology evaluation and knowledge transfer opportunities with industry.
The hospital was the first in London with a NHS Innovation Hub and NHS tech-transfer office. Dr Parlett also helped develop a substantial Proof of Concept Investment Fund alongside Guy's & St Thomas' Charity and now manages a portfolio of innovations across a number of health sectors including diagnostics, software & medical devices.
